2 People Missing in Queen of the North sinking

Gerald Foisey and Shirley Rosette are the two passengers who haven't been found since the disastrous sinking of a BC ferry, the Queen of the North, yesterday. Reports have said that the couple were walk-ons and that family members dropped them off and saw them board the ferry. But since the sinking there has been no word from either Gerald or Shirley. Eye witness accounts say they were spotted in Hartley Bay, where the rescue operation started from, but with no sign or word of the couple, it doesn't look good. Today BC Ferries has issued a statement saying that they are now in a body recovery mode, and will send divers to the wreckage later today. So sad to see this happen in BC waters; although our waters are so dangerous and considered one of the most dangerous in the world.

This event has renewed political pressure on the Liberal government for lack of funding and capital spending on the BC Ferry fleet, which has an average life per boat of over 30 years. The NDP tried to rebuild the fleet in the notorious FastCAT scandal, but since then, the idea of funding and rebuilding the fleet has become politically disastrous for the party in power. If this does become a sad tragedy, then the Liberal government will have some very tough questions to answer.

Ferries sinking and Shapiro clears PM

Wow, a BC Ferry sinks with people scrambling to get off the boat at 1am in the morning. The ferry between Prince Rupert and Port Hardy is a 450km trip and when it ran aground, most of the passengers were asleep. Thanks to the crew, all passengers and crew were off the boat before it went under. Crazy to hear this about a BC ferry. You would think that this type of thing shouldn't happen in Canada, with all the training, technology, safety protocols. The next problem is getting all those cars and trucks out of the ferry before they start to leak gas and oil, no that would be really bad.

Thanks to all those in Hartley Bay, BC, for opening their homes and community to those survivors of the ferry disaster.

And the other big news story is that, surprise, surprise, the PM is cleared of all charges of ethics. We all knew that Stephen Harper was not guilty of any crime, having a MP cross the floor is legal, but the way that the PM handled the whole situation was petty and showed utter lack of respect for the law. And now to silence all MP's, restrict the media, and screen all emails, documents, speeches from ALL MP's? Is Stephen Harper nuts? In the Gomery Report, the main ruling in it states a need to limit the PM's power; too much power can lead to a filtering and ommition of facts, ethics becomes very grey. So here we have a PM who is using his power with a strong fisted arm telling his MP's to shut up, don't speak your own words, and "I'm watching you" attitude. Bull #@$! Censorship of MP's, restricting media, MP's unavailable for comment on breaking news...Sounds like 1984 is coming back in style. Department of Thought Police and Newspeak will be headed by Stockwell Day.

24 This week: Audrey's a terrorist?

Well this weeks episode was really good. I felt the writing was great, and 3 new story lines were created. Marshal Law is now in LA (vice-president is poltting against Logan), Palmer's brother is gunned down in his car, but escapes, and has information (what exactly, we don't know), and Jack tracks down a women terrorist called Collette, who tells them Audrey from CTU gave her the plans for a building (which we don't know).

So Audrey is a mole? I'm not really certain, but it sure is a great plot twist. And the in-fighting between Homeland and CTU is good, nice to bring in new characters like Karin, head of Homeland. But it just doesn't sit right with Audrey being a mole. I'm not convinced.

From the preview for next weeks episode, it looks like Jack is questioning Audrey, but will this continue into a full investigation? Who knows, but can't wait to find out.
