Last few days: School, 24, Ferries, Loney's Free, Harp Seal in office and Press Gallery uproar in Ottawa

Well lets start off with school is going good. I'm almost done with just 3 weeks to go till finals start. It has been weird coming back to school after being away from school for so long, but going to a new city I think really helped me focus. I'm not getting the grades I had hoped (A's) but I have so far 2 B's and 2 A's. Not bad for being 5 years out of school!

I will be in Vancouver from April 14th till the 17th for Easter, it will mainly be just family stuff, but I will be having lunch with friends on the Monday 17th, probably sushi, before I leave to go back to Kamloops. Let me know if you can make it! It also looks like I may try to get back for April 12th because Brutalis has been brought to life again at LFAS and that is the only night I can attend, so I have to check this out with a few of my teachers as I will be missing Thursday-last day of all my classes.

Jenni is moving up here at the end of April, so Tracy, Warren and I will be helping her move up here. The move will fall in between my Finals and my First Aid course, so it works out for me, timing wise!

As for me, I will be in Kamloops till I go to a mining camp which looks like around May 6th or so. I have been told that I will either be in the Kenrich Camp (which I have been too many times) or the Annyox Camp (This one is on the ocean! That would be cool). I am very excited to be going back to the Mining thing, but at the same time, I'm sad to be leaving Family, Friends and Jenni. :(

Well Wrapping up the news this week:

24: Good episode, glad to see Audrey was cleared of any terrorist activities. I was talking to my brother earlier and we both thought that the Marshal Law thing, having people stay indoors at the same time as the terrorists plan to release the nerve gas in the natural gas pipelines of LA is somewhat scary and very ironic. I think the terrorists and this "Secondary government force" are working together and Wayne Palmer has information about this whole thing. I can't wait till next episode!

Loney: James Loney of Canada was released or rather "freed" a few days ago, after being captive for over 4 months in Iraq. Interesting that Harper released information that the RCMP and "other" Canadian agencies have been working in Iraq for sometime, even before this hostage taking. Are we actually involved in Iraq or not? Of course Foreign Affairs MP Peter McKay can't comment on this because it isn't on his "approved five point talking list".

Ferries: BC ferries now confirms that the operation to look for the two missing passengers is now a body recovery effort and that BC ferries will not raise the ferry due to huge costs. And to make things worse, passengers are now suing the BC Ferry corp. after news was leaked that the ferry was on auto pilot at the time of the crash.

Harper: Well Mr. Harper is again in hot water, well when isn't he? After silencing all MP's and allowing his PMO to screen all emails, statements and speeches from all his MP's; Plus limiting access for the press gallery in the House of Commons, Mr. Harper is not releasing any information on when, why or what, Cabinet Members or Committees are meeting. Thus the press does not know where and when they can pose questions to the Mp's. Is freedom of the press not a right? Why is Stephen Harper so scared of his own MP's talking? MP's are our voice in the House and if they can't speak, then why vote for a party which doesn't allow any individual to speak their mind and speak for their constituents. 1984 here we come. I think that all this news about baby seals being clubbed is over looking the fact that a massive Harp Seal is driving this country into political chaos.

Meet the Press: To add on to this important issue, the Canadian Press Gallery formally asked for a meeting with the PMO Press secretaries. Here is the unedited and complete transcript of the meeting which outlines a key fact: The PMO is regulating information and limiting access of the Press to the PM and the MP's. Read it for yourself, it just blows me away that in Canada we have at the helm a PM who thinks he can break the law, have secret meetings, go behind closed doors, enter parliament from the back door-where press are not allowed, silence MP's, screen their emails and public statements....the list goes on. Did Stephen Harper run on the slogans :Choose YOUR Canada, Stand up for Canada, Clean up government? Well...Um...I think whoever voted for the Conservatives do this: Go to a mirror, look into it, and say "I was tricked". Running on a platform of cleaner government, transparent government, accountable......well you can't achieve that with a government bent on censorship of information.
